I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday season so far!  I love the holidays and have enjoyed putting this list together of Christmas activities for Kids in the greater Bangor, Maine area.  I will add to it as I find more activities in the coming weeks.  Click on the links below to find additional information about the events.

Winterport Open Stage Presents: The Best Christmas Pageant Ever – 7pm

Performances at Wagner Middle School – Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for students and seniors

December 5, 2015

6th Annual Breakfast with the Clause – 9-11am

Enjoy a breakfast of pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon, orange juice, hot chocolate, and coffee. The kids will have fun doing assorted crafts, and visiting with Santa and the Mrs.  The suggested donation is $5 per adult, $2 per child, or $12 for a family of 4 or more, (2 adults maximum). Proceeds to benefit Make-A-Wish.

Santa Claus is Coming to (Down) Town – 1-4pm

Santa will be in Downtown Bangor at Central Meeting House (29 Central Street) from 1 – 4 pm. Santa will be present for lap-sitting and picture-taking.  There will also be cookie decorating.

Holidays at Hill House – 1-4pm

Come for tea, treats and a glimpse into holidays past when the Hill House is decorated in grand style. Admission is just $10 per person, $5 for children 12 and under. All proceeds benefits the mission and programs of the Bangor Historical Society.

Festival of Lights Parade – 4:30pm

The parade, will step off at 4:30 p.m. sharp from the intersection of State and Exchange Streets. From there, the route will follow Harlow Street to Central Street. It will turn left onto Central Street and proceed down to the intersection of Main, State, and Hammond Streets. It then turns right onto Main Street and proceeds up through the intersection of Main and Union Streets. The parade will end in the area in front of Davenport Park next to Cedar Street.

December 6, 2015

Yuletide Concert – 2-5pm

Yuletide will feature works for both choir and orchestra, many holiday favorites, and a combined choir of over 200 voices!  At the Collins Center for the Arts.

December 7, 2015

Light Up The Night – 4:30-8:30pm

Join the Town of Orono, Orono Village Association and The University of Maine to Light Up The Night. It’s a festive season bonanza: hot cocoa, caroling, Santa, lights, parade, fireworks!!

December 12, 2015

Hands-on History at the Bangor Historical Society – 10-11am

Enjoy a look at holiday traditions from the 1800s and how they influence our celebrations today. Each child will leave with their own Victorian era ornament creation.  Tickets are $5 per child or FREE for up to 2 children with a BHS Family Membership.  Pre-Registration is suggested.

Family Fun at the Brewer Library – 10:30-11:30am

Join the Brewer Public Library at this free event to learn how to make different paper ornaments.  This program is open to all ages, but space is limited. Registration is required

Come for tea, treats and a glimpse into holidays past when the Hill House is decorated in grand style. Admission is just $10 per person, $5 for children 12 and under. All proceeds benefits the mission and programs of the Bangor Historical Society.

Family Time – Evergreen Wreath and Centerpiece Workshop – 2-2:30pm

Choose from the Maine Discovery Museum’s huge selection of fancy decorations to personalize your wreath for your family’s holiday traditions. For only $5.00 per project (wreath), you’ll get to make a big, fresh evergreen wreath and/or door tassels or a kissing ball and decorate it to your heart’s content!

Gingerbread House Workshop – 11am

Maine Discovery Museum – Decorate your dream gingerbread house: Tons of quality candy, edible “building supplies” for sleds, trees, decks, additions, garages, hot tubs, gingerbread doghouses, candy snow men or landing strips for the reindeer!  Price: $18 per house non-members, $15 per house members. Pre-registration is required
