We had an awesome visit to Clark’s Trading Post.  The weather was a bit dreary but we will take a light drizzle over a downpour anytime!  We arrived shortly after the park opened and watched the train pull into the station for the first departure of the day.Clark's Trading Post Review  We eagerly climbed aboard for our journey into the Wolfman’s territory.  Buddy was petrified of the Wolfman and the gun shots.  Boo Boo didn’t mind in the least.  I think the only reason Buddy was scared was because I tried to explain ahead of time about the Wolfman.  So if you have small children its a good idea to tell your children ahead of time that there will be gunshots fired and that they are just pretend.

The scenery on the train ride was beautiful.  I didn’t get to enjoy it quite as much as I would have liked since I had a 3 year old buried in my chest for the entire ride.

When we pulled back into the station at Clark’s we headed over to watch the Bear show.  I was really looking forward to watching the show and definitely was not disappointed.  I was amazed with all of the tricks that the bears could do and loved that they worked for ice cream!  Those are my kind of bears 🙂

After the bear show we explored a bit and wandered in and out of the museums.  Make sure you bring some change with you as there are working Mutoscope’s and Player pianos.

We brought a picnic for lunch so we ate in the covered picnic pavilion.  While the kids were eating I walked over to watch a few minutes of the circus act.  It was very lively and bright.  I think if my kids were a bit older they really would have enjoyed it.  They still aren’t quite to the sit and watch shows age.

After lunch we headed down to the more interactive area.  Boo Boo and I headed straight for the newest addition – The Anaconda Escape!  As it was a rainy day – not many people wanted to get wet – so there was no line.  We walked right up the stairs and got right on.  The ride was awesome!  You sit in a raft and ride in a fully enclosed tube.  The tube is not fully blacked out on the top and then becomes completely dark at the bottom.  My daughter and I both loved it!  If you don’t want to get wet this ride is not for you.  I wore a poncho and still got fairly wet.  (DISCLAIMER – bring dry clothes or change into bathing suits)

The kids wanted to do the Blaster Boats of course.  As I was already wet I said I would go with them.  I went with Boo Boo first and we drove around in the boat soaking other people as well!  After Boo Boo had enough Buddy came out for his turn.  By the time I finished riding with both kids I was dripping!  It was definitely worth it for how happy it made the kids.  (DISCLAIMER – bring dry clothes or change into bathing suits)

Hubby wanted to try out driving a Segway so that was the final thing we did for the day.  The kids and I watched while dripping!  The kids were still too short (you need to be 48 inches tall).  I probably would have gone if I was not soaked.  Hubby really enjoyed it and mastered it quickly.

We had a very enjoyable visit and will definitely go back to Clark’s Trading Post in the future.  I think it will be more fun for the kids as they get a little older.
