Day Out with Thomas – The Celebration Tour Review

Day Out with Thomas - The Celebration Tour Review

We had a blast at the Conway Scenic Railroad for a Day Out with Thomas.  This was our third year attending and I think it was my favorite (but I think every year ends up surpassing the last).  The kids were both really excited to see Percy – we only did the ride with Thomas but they had their pictures taken with both trains.

If you have never attended watch the short video below:

This year was the first year we attended on a Friday and I would highly recommend it!  The number of people in attendance seemed much lower than when we have attended previously on Saturday.  The lines were minimal and the kids got to see and do everything they wanted without feeling rushed or crowded.

Our train ride with Thomas was at 1pm – we arrived around 12:15pm and picked up our tickets and wristbands and went straight in.  The kids love the interactive map with the various areas they need to visit and gets stamps.  We decided to try to complete all of the “checkpoints” other then the final one prior to our train ride.

We started the afternoon with a picture with Percy!

Next we proceeded to the Storytelling & Video-Viewing for our first stamp.  The kids got a sticker and looked at the video for about a minute before we headed out.  In North Conway right next to the video area was the North Conway Model R.R. Club.  The kids – especially Buddy – loved this so much we had to visit again before we left.

We exited the Model R.R. Club and were met with a sign for the the Baby Changing & Nursing Area.  I had to take a picture of this – I mean how many chances do you get to nurse your baby in a caboose?  Kudos to a Day Out with Thomas for providing this area.Day Out with Thomas - The Celebration Tour Review

We continued down the path and I stopped to take a picture of the map of the event area at the Conway Scenic Railroad.  Next we headed into the gift shop to get a stamp and amazingly we exited without purchasing anything!  This might have to do with the fact that we have enough Thomas trackmaster trains to outfit a store…Day Out with Thomas - The Celebration Tour Review

After the gift shop we got in line to meet Sir Topham Hat.  The kids are finally warming up to him.  The first year we went they wouldn’t even get in the picture, the second year they were hesitant and this year they even held hands!

After the photo opp with Sir Topham Hatt we headed over to get in line for our ride on Thomas.  As we got closer we saw that we could have our pictures taken with Thomas prior to the ride.

After I got the cutest picture ever of my kiddos we headed over and boarded the waiting train.  We rode in an open air coach this year and really enjoyed it!

When we returned to the station we headed for our last stop – the Imagination Station.  The kids got their last stamp and prize for getting all four stamps.  Next we explored the Imagination Station – the kids got their faces painted, played with trains, got tattoos, and made pasta bracelets.  There were more activities that included listening to songs, coloring, making hats, playing with blocks and probably some I missed.

After we finished at the Imagination Station we headed back to the main area and toured a diesel engine and went on a motor car ride.

For our family this is an annual event – its something that we look forward to every summer.  I would highly recommend visiting a Day Out with Thomas if you have young children who enjoy watching Thomas.
