Easter Egg Counting Cards

Sneak a little learning into Easter with cute Easter egg counting cards! A quick-to-make and inexpensive alternative to pricey store-bought flash cards, these counting cards make a fun craft for a weekend afternoon and will help your little one learn numbers 1-10 while also improving her geometry skills.

What You Need

  • White or light-colored card stock or other sturdy paper
  • Markers in pretty spring colors
  • Scissors

What You Do

  1. Help your child cut out 10 medium-sized rectangles from the card stock. What shape is she cutting out? For a more in-depth lesson on shapes, try making the cards in a variety of shapes such as ovals, squares, or even triangles.
  2. Begin with the number 1. Give your child one of the cards and ask her to draw one Easter egg on the front of the card and the number 1 on the back. Encourage her to decorate her Easter egg as creatively as she wants.
  3. Repeat step 2 for cards 2-10, making sure the number of Easter eggs on each card matches the card’s number.
  4. Once your cards are finished, play a simple counting game. Hold up a card, Easter egg side out, and ask her to count the eggs to find the right number.

Once she’s mastered 1-10, make the game more challenging by adding cards for numbers 11-20. Play the game often, and watch her counting skills skyrocket!
