Mickey Mouse Oreo Pops

I decided that I didn’t want to make a cake for our #DisneySide Valentine’s day party since it was a brunch.  I wanted to find a Mickey treat and found Mickey Mouse Oreo Pops.  I looked at a bunch of pins on pinterest and finally found one that was exactly what I was looking for.  Endlessly Inspired bake.learn.create was the website that provided the inspiration for my Oreo Pops.

MATERIALS NEEDED (yield 32)

  • Package of Oreos (I used regular – I think double stuffed would have worked better)
  • Package of mini Oreos
  • Wilton Lollipop sticks
  • One pound bag of red candy melts (I used Choco Maker brand)
  • One pound bag of black candy melts
  • 64 white M&M’s or other small white candy (or you could use frosting or candy melts)

INSTRUCTIONS

  • First I split the mini Oreos in half and scraped all of the frosting off them.

  • Next I pressed two mini Oreo pieces into the top of a big Oreo (this is where it would have been handy to have double stuffed as the cookie halfs would have more easily slid in I believe.  You will have some Oreo’s break (just eat them – no one will know!!), but make sure you account for that when purchasing.

  • Don’t they look so cute? I honestly think you could stop right there and still have a super cute party treat!  But, I didn’t stop here – I put the black chocolate wafers in a microwave safe bowl and melted them per the directions on the bag.

  • Once the black chocolate was melted I dipped the top half of my “Mickey” into the chocolate.  Once I dipped the cookie I put it onto a foil lined cookie sheet to harden.Mickey Mouse Oreo Pops Mickey Mouse Oreo Pops
  • I left the cookies for about thirty minutes.  After I confirmed the chocolate was hard I melted the red chocolate wafers.  I dipped the cookies in red up to the black, then dipped the lollipop stick in the red chocolate as well and twisted it in between the sides of the large Oreo (again this when I questioned myself for buying regular Oreo’s instead of Double Stuffed).  I had a few crack the black chocolate when I inserted the sticks but I touched them up later on so no one knew.  After I set the cookie pop on the cookie sheet to harden I applied the two white candies for buttons.

Here is the display from our party this morning.  I think my mom did an awesome job arranging the cookie pops!

These were actually a lot easier than I expected. I have decorated a few cakes in my days and honestly think this was an easier project then some of the cakes I have made.  They would make a super cute addition to any Mickey themed party.  Shouldn’t everyone show their #DisneySide?  I think so!
