Cute and Easy Colorful Easter Bunny Shirts made with Pom Poms

Cute and Easy Colorful Easter Bunny Shirts made with Pom Poms

Can you believe Easter is almost here?  I surely can’t!  Today the kids and I worked together to create them Easter Bunny Shirts made with Pom Poms.  I have seen posts on Pinterest using pom poms to make art but I hadn’t tried it yet with the kids and figured this would be a fun project to test it out with.  Last year we made these cute Shamrock t-shirts with pencil erasers so I figured the concept would be fairly easy to transfer to pom poms.  Read on to see how we created our shirts.

Materials Needed

  • Cardboard box
  • Rabbit – Printable Template (check out my other post using this same template here)
  • Marker
  • Scissors
  • Acrylic Paint
  • Puffy Fabric paint
  • T-shirt
  • Clothespins
  • Pom Poms
  • Newspaper
  • Masking Tape

Instructions

  • First you should trace the printable rabbit pattern on a piece of cardboard.  This will be what the kids paint around to get the bunny shape.
  • Next insert a piece of newspaper between the front and back of the shirt to ensure the paint doesn’t bleed through.
  • Prepare one pom pom and clothespin per color of paint (pinch the pom pom in the clothespin – the clothespin serves as a pom pom holder to help keep the mess to a minimum)
  • Call the kids to the table and get started.
  • I told the kids to dip their pom poms in the paint and then to start painting (they need to use a dot technique and to make sure they are hitting the edge of the cardboard with the paint to keep the shape of the bunny clear).

  • When they finished making dots with the pom poms I traced the outline of the bunny in puffy paint to help make the shape stand out.
  • Finally move the shirts to a flat surface and allow to dry completely.

The kids were excited to make these shirts and that they would be able to wear them on Easter this year.  Have you ever made shirts for your kids for Easter?  If so I would love to see them!
