Handprint Paper Plate Apples
Fall is here! I love themed kids crafts as you all know 🙂 Our focus in September is going to be apple crafts. Today’s project we have done before – we made paper plate apples last year as well. The inspiration came from Ramblings of a Crazy Woman.
This year we are modifying the original design we used. I love using handprints in the kids art so our apples have handprint leaves.
Materials Needed:
- Red, Green and Brown paper (I used construction paper and cardstock)
- Paper Plate
- Glue (the bowl is to hold the glue for dipping)
- Scissors
- Pen
Instructions:
- Have the child rip the entire piece of red paper into small pieces
- Squeeze glue into the bowl
- Dip ripped pieces of red paper in glue and stick to plate – covering the entire plate
- Trace hand on green paper
- Cut traced hand out of green paper (child can do this if they are old enough)
- Cut a stem out of the brown paper
- Attach stem to the back of the paper plate
- Attach handprint to the front of the plate (slightly overlapping the stem)
- Place somewhere to dry
This project is great for younger kids as it allows them to practice fine motor skills. It was such a difference in skill level with Buddy from last year to this year. He did great and made a beautiful apple! Boo Boo was sad that she missed the project while she was at school so she will get her turn soon.

Love the handprint idea.
Thanks! I love included handprints to look back through the years at how much the kids change!
