Celery Stalk Flower Printing

I use Pinterest as inspiration for a lot of projects.  Today’s is posted on a lot of different blogs and I will share it as well but with the disclaimer up front that this really didn’t work well for us. My kids love painting – so we moved right along to heart sponge painting.  But enjoy the journey below and see the finished product.  I even attempted a print and didn’t see that it looked like what you saw online.

So my setup included various colors of paint, a celery base, a romaine lettuce base, a heart sponge, paintbrushes, paint plates, and smocks.

The kids eagerly dug right in with Buddy trying the celery and Boo Boo trying the romaine.  Buddy stamped right along and made a lot of smeared paintings as he kept stamping over and over.  Boo Boo didn’t like the romaine and let me know about it!

Buddy did a few pages and was DONE!  As usual his three year old attention span for any project is less time than it takes me to setup.  Boo Boo continued along asking for new sheets of paper left and right – once she started using the heart sponge she was happy.

So the moral of this project – always have a backup plan ready in case things don’t turn out quite as you expected!
