Free to Create with Open Ended Art
Do your kids love to create? Do you secretly (or maybe not so secretly) stress about the mess they are going to make every time you get the art supplies out? I will admit I definitely have the tendency to skip doing an art project if I think it will get to messy – especially when we don’t have a lot of time. I have found one company that makes art supplies I LOVE! The Pencil Grip, Inc created Kwik Stix (see my review here). I decided to let Buddy test out the supplies while his sister was gone on a playdate. He had used the Kwik Stix before so he knew what he was doing right away. I gave him paper and let him get to it. He was super impressed with the fact that the Magic Stix won’t dry out for 7 days with the cap off (I also think that is pretty cool!) – it’s fun to hear what your kids think of things once they start reading and forming their own opinions. I like the plastic case the markers come in and that they are washable – 6 year old boys can end up with marker in weird places! The colors were vibrant and the marker was perfectly sized for his little hands. Since there was no white marker (as there typically aren’t) he was off to the Thin Stix to complete his picture.
My kids already know and love Kwik Stix and were excited to use the new Thin Stix version. I love that Kwik Stix are solid tempera paint – this means you have all the flexibility of paint with way less mess. My kids are older now than the first time we tested Kwik Stix and I trust them more with independent projects. With Kwik Stix I love knowing that I can walk out of the room and not wonder what is happening and/or ending up painted by accident (the dog?!?). We keep our Kwik Stix in the kids art storage that has art supplies available that they can use anytime.
Would I recommend Kwik Stix products? DEFINITELY! They are great for art projects, posters, and much more. My kids love them and I love that! Pull out the Kwik Stix today (or order some to put under the tree) and let your kids get creative with open ended art. You never know what they will come up with!
