Happy Father’s Day!
Today is Father’s Day – up here in Maine we are currently experiencing the aftermath of Tropical Storm Bill. While that is great for helping fill our pool its not so great for being outside. Luckily yesterday was nice and we spent a nice day at our family camp.
Father’s Day Part 1
We took my grandfather’s truck and tractor home yesterday, picked up our Suburban and headed out to an early Father’s Day lunch with both my grandfathers, one of my grandmothers, my parents and our family. We went to a local takeout place that has a nice outdoor seating area and playground for the kids.
After lunch we continued on our journey and spent the afternoon at camp. Hubby and the kids went swimming (I abstained – the older I get the later I get in the pond!). We made Reese’s Pieces Peanut Butter No Bake Cookies for my dad. The kids caught sunfish, we grilled, and relaxed – it was a great day!
Father’s Day Part 2
The kids even slept in this morning – that was a Father’s day present for Hubby and me! I made Hubby a ham, egg, and cheese bagel for breakfast. After breakfast he opened his presents from the kids and me. His big present was a grain mill that he bought for himself almost a month ago.
The kids and I did a few projects for Hubby and I will be posting in more detail about those in the coming days but to tide you over take a look at the pictures below!
A little later in the morning Hubby went with his dad to Lowe’s to buy some lumber and the kiddos and I made brownies and some fresh French Bread. I love this French bread recipe and will post a tutorial someday for it but for now find it here at Deals to Meals.
After lunch the kiddos had early quiet time so we could head to the movie theater to see Inside Out! It was pretty awesome – there was a lot of adult humor but the kids really enjoyed it as well. I would recommend it – check out the trailer below!
As I type they are playing Mario together on the Wii. Even Zoe is showing her daddy some love!
I’m pretty sure the kiddos and their daddy had an awesome day! Feel free to share and let me know what you did to honor the special men in your life.
