Kidcentric Fun and Festive Thanksgiving Decor

Are you like many families that skip straight from Halloween to Christmas decor?  I realized this fall that I was and decided I wanted to start to remedy that.  I have slowly gathered some general fall decor that I put up when school starts that stays up until I put up my Christmas decorations.  I bought one cute Harvest Blessings sign that has a turkey on it a few years ago and that inspired me to find some additional Thanksgiving related items.  I love to involve the kids when I decorate the house and thought to myself – where better than Oriental Trading to look for some fun crafts and decorations that will liven up our house.  Read on to learn how to create your own Kidcentric Fun and Festive Thanksgiving Decor.

I found this Garland when I was searching and knew immediately that I needed it!  I realized I could use it as a base to create an awesome Thanksgiving display in our dining room.  I then went on and searched for a few kids crafts that could be added to our display.  I found these Tree of Thanks craft kits and knew I had to add those to our display – I love crafts that help the kids focus on the meaning of the holiday.  My kids love mosiac craft kits and once I noticed Mosiac Glitter Turkey Craft Kits I knew that the kids would love them!

I hung the garland with help from hubby and then the kids set to crafting.  I love that Craft Kits from Oriental Trading come individually bagged with all the pieces and instructions to make one craft that way each kid knows which supplies are theirs.  We started with the Mosiac Turkey as I knew it would be a little bit easier for the kids.  They didn’t even have to open the instructions – they knew what they were doing!  They peeled and stuck and created adorable Turkeys.

Next they made their Thankful Trees.  Boo Boo made hers all by herself while Buddy needed help with writing what he was thankful for on the leaves.  This kit didn’t include adhesive so the kids used glue sticks to adhere their leaves.  The kids were excited to see their finished products and see the wall when I got everything hung up!

I love browsing the Oriental Trading website to find fun decor and kids crafts and activities.  I can’t wait to make Christmas ornaments again with the kids this year.  We have such fun!
