Make an Easy Teacher Appreciation Gift in a Jar

Teacher Appreciation is fast approaching!  If you are anything like me you realize that there is such a week and you keep hearing it mentioned but you forget all about it until the last minute.  If that sounds like you – take a crack at this Easy Teacher Appreciation Gift in a Jar.

Two Easy Options 

  1. Bake cookies

  2. Provide dry ingredients

Ingredients
  1. 2-1/2 cups all purpose flour
  2. 1 tsp baking soda
  3. 1/2 tsp salt
  4. 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
  5. 1 cup packed brown sugar
  6. 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  7. 2 eggs
  8. 1 tbs vanilla
  9. 1 package (12 oz) M&M's (or whatever kind of candy you would like to use)
  10. 1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts (optional – I never use nuts)
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 375º
  2. Add the butter and sugar to the mixer and blend until fluffy
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla and mix
  4. Next add the baking soda, salt and flour - mix until fully blended
  5. Add the M&M's and gently mix
  6. Use a small cookie scoop and placed 12 cookies per sheet at a time in the oven
  7. Bake roughly 12 minutes until slightly browned

Materials Needed

  • 1 quart canning jar
  • 1 cupcake liner
  • 1 canning jar metal band
  • Curling ribbon 
  • Printable label from Sweet Metel Moments
  • Baked and cooled cookies

Insructions

  • Follow the instructions above
  • Stack the cooled cookies inside the canning jar
  • Place the cupcake liner on top of the jar and screw the metal band down to secure
  • Print Labels and have your child color a picture and sign their name
  • String the ribbon through the printed label and attach
  • Curl the ends of the ribbon

Provide Dry Ingredients

Make an Easy Teacher Appreciation Gift in a Jar

  • 1 quart canning jar
  • 1 cupcake liner
  • 1 canning jar metal band
  • Curling ribbon 
  • Printable label from Sweet Metel Moments
  • All dry ingredients listed in the recipe
  • Layer the ingredients in the jar starting with the brown sugar and ending with the M&M’s
  • Place the cupcake liner on top of the jar and screw the metal band down to secure
  • Print Labels and have your child color a picture and sign their name on the inside
  • On the back of the label hand write the additional ingredients needed and baking directions
  • String the ribbon through the printed label and attach
  • Curl the ends of the ribbon
