Elf on the Shelf Welcome Back Breakfast

Does your house have a mysterious and mischievous elf that visits every holiday season?  Ours does and his name is Mickey.  Our Elf on the Shelf, Mickey joined us early this year prior to our trip to El Salvador.  He came early bearing gifts from Santa for the trip and with promises of watching over the house until our return.

Mickey joined us at breakfast the day before our trip (he didn’t come the day of since we had to be up around 4am).  Mickey had set the table with new Christmas plates for the kids, their mugs from last year, and he found the gingerbread chair covers to put on the chairs.  Mickey was sitting on the table with the word “hi” spelled out in gumdrops with the Elf on the Shelf book and DVD as well a letter from Santa.

Mickey had also gathered up the supplies to make a Christmas Party Mix.  He left a note asking the kids to help make the party mix.  You can find the blog listing the ingredients and instructions by clicking the image below.

In the kitchen Mickey had left out the Mickey waffle iron we have.  The kids enjoyed a breakfast of Mickey waffles, honeydew, raspberries and whipped cream.  They were in heaven!

After breakfast the kids opened the present that Santa had sent early.  They received Kindles with kid friendly cases.  As a parent I think that was one of the best decisions we could have made for our sanity and that of the fellow travelers around us!

Our breakfast was a hit with the kids.  We don’t tend to do many extravagant or crazy Elf on the Shelf activities.  Mickey hides in various spots and sometimes cause a little mischief.  Now that the kids are a bit bigger it is a lot more fun to see their reactions to the things Mickey is doing.  I look to Pinterest for a lot of my Elf on the Shelf inspiration – you can find some ideas here:
