Visit Edaville USA for Family Fun

Our family loves to get out and explore new places.  Last year we headed to visit Edaville USA for the grand opening of Thomas Land USA.  You can read more about our experience at the grand opening here.  I was excited to head back to Edaville to see the changes that were made since our last visit.

We planned our visit to coincide with the start of our California Vacation – we were flying out of Logan Airport in Boston so we decided to head down a day early to visit Edaville USA.  At our last visit there were a lot of areas in the front of the park and Thomas Land that were still under construction.  This time there was still some construction but mainly in the front of the park – Thomas Land was completed.

Our Visit

We headed straight to Thomas Land as the kids remembered it from last year and were excited to visit again.  The first impression was the same – that we had been transported to the Island of Sodor!  As we walked further into Thomas Land I was impressed to see the finished landscaping.  The grass had grown in, the rides were finished (in fact it was the Grand Opening of the Sodor Play Zone while we were visiting).  We headed straight for the Winston’s Skyline Express as we were excited to experience it for the first time as it was still under construction last year.  We were the first riders of the day đź™‚  The ride provides a great view of the entirety of Thomas Land from the sky!

Next we headed to the Troublesome Trucks as Buddy was tall enough to ride this year (and was very sad last year when he was too short).  Both kids really enjoyed the roller coaster.  Take a look below at the video I took of the ride from the front car.

We went into the Sodor Play Zone early in the morning and there were hardly any other families there.   It was great to get inside and take a break from the sun for Hubby and I while the kids ran and played.  This Play Zone was honestly amazing!  If you imagine a McDonald’s play place just try to picture something roughly four times the size!!!  The kids ran and played and probably would have stayed a lot longer if we hadn’t called them out.

We visited all of the rides in ThomasLand before heading back to the main section of the park.  We had a bit of time before the next Thomas train ride so we went on some of other rides.  We were the only ones on the Ferris Wheel!  After a few more rides we boarded Thomas for a ride around Edaville USA.  The track circles the park and take you through the cranberry bogs.  As you ride on Thomas you see the light displays that stay up year round for the Festival of Lights.  I certainly would love to visit some year in the Winter!

After our ride on Thomas we had lunch at the Choo-Choo BBQ – the food was great!  We had smelled the BBQ from the moment we entered the park and both myself and Hubby knew what we were going to have for lunch!  The portions were large – our kids shared one cheeseburger and didn’t even finish that.  All sides are an additional cost but with the large size of the entree itself you can definitely get away with just the sandwich.

Once we finished lunch we had about an hour left before we had to get in the car and drive up to Logan for our flight.  Both kids wanted to visit different areas so we split up – Buddy and Hubby headed to Dino Land and Boo Boo and I went back to the Sodor Play Zone.  We met up 30 minutes later and started our walk to the front of the park.

Overall Impression

Our visit was great!  I love that Edaville USA caters to a smaller crowd – almost all of their rides are perfect for 4 and 5 year olds to ride by themselves.  This was our first experience with watching our kids ride alone (you can ride and we did on a lot but they really enjoyed that independence!).  Edaville is a great family experience that is worth the drive.

If you live in the New England area I would recommend checking it out – especially if you have a train lover!
