Free Printable Paw Patrol Bingo

I am in the planning process for Boo Boo’s 6th birthday party – a Paw Patrol themed party!  I always scour Pinterest and the internet for free printables that I can use for the party.  This time when searching for a free Bingo game my search turned up empty so I decided I would make my own Bingo game.  I created this game for our own personal use but decided to share it with others for FREE!  

This Bingo game is for personal use only – meaning for little ones parties – not to be reproduced and sold.

We have 11 little ones attending the party so I made 11 unique Bingo cards.  I also made a calling sheet for you to print and cut out the cards.

Halloween Carnival Fun for Kids made Easy

I love planning parties for my kids classrooms and Scout troops.  My husband always asks why I do so many things for them and my response is always “they are only little once” or “I only have so many years before they don’t want me around”.  I’m taking advantage of the time I’m given with my kids and helping create special memories along the way.  While every parent doesn’t have as much time as I do to volunteer just remember its the little things that matter and that your kids will remember.  They will remember the field trip you went on or the school concert your boss actually let you off of work to see.  Don’t focus on what you can’t do – focus on the things you can do. (phew…stepping off my parenting advice soap box).

How to Make a DIY Minecraft Creeper Piñata

Does your child love Minecraft?  Both of my kids do!  My son decided his 6th birthday party theme was going to be Minecraft and I have to admit prior to planning the party my knowledge of Minecraft was definitely limited.  I did what every crazy party planning mama does and took to Pinterest and my favorite party supply site – Oriental Trading Company for inspiration.  I found a picture of a Minecraft Piñata that looked like it would be easy to make but no directions.  I have made Piñatas before and enjoy it so I decided to share how to make a DIY Minecraft Creeper Piñata with you in case you wanted to make one yourself.

Over at Oriental Trading Company I found some awesome Minecraft inspired items to use for prizes in the Piñata – check these out!

• Plush Pixel Pals
• Pixel Checkered Bandanas
• Pixel Character Tattoos
• Pixel Shutter Sunglasses

I also got these treat bags for the kids to use to put all of their goodies in as they collected them.

Materials Needed

• Cardboard Box (pick the size that fits your needs)
• Print out the Minecraft Happy Birthday sign (available here)
• Crepe paper (green, black and blue)
• Hot Glue gun/glue sticks
• Duct Tape
• Scissors
• Wire (or something similar) for fashioning a hanger
• Rope
• Treats and prizes

Instructions

• Cut two small holes in the top of the box
• Reinforce the box at the top where the hanger will be so the top doesn’t rip out before the box opens – we used a piece of wood
• Feed the rope through the wood and box (or just the box)
• Attach a hanger (my husband used a piece of metal) but you could use just the rope
• Fill the box with treats
• Use Duct tape and seal the box
• Plug in the hot glue gun
• Attach the Minecraft picture on one large side of the box
• Start unrolling crepe paper
• Use scissors and create notches on the bottom of the crepe paper roughly 1 inch apart across the entire length (this creates volume and makes the piñata look more like its store bought)
• Start applying notched crepe paper – I worked from top to bottom (as my piñata was multi colored I did one large side and small side in each color)
  
• Apply dabs of hot glue to the box – stick on crepe paper
• As needed stop and notch more crepe paper
• Cover the top and bottom of the box with crepe paper as well
• Create a tail with a few strips of each color of crepe paper
• Admire your completed piñata
• Watch as children destroy your hard work gleefully wack the piñata!

These Free Minecraft Printables from Catch My Party are amazing!  I used the water bottle wrappers, cupcake toppers and the Happy Birthday sign.  Whenever you are planning a party make sure you do a Pinterest search to see what you can pull up for free goodies like these <3

Kids in the Kitchen: Make Fun Minions Donuts

Do your kids love the Minions?  If so Get Ready for Despicable Me with these Fun Minions Donuts!  Have the kids help make fun Minions Donuts prior to the movie or after you come home.  These fun Minions Donuts would also be great for birthday party treats as well!

My kids love to get into the kitchen and help bake with me.  We love to work together and make fun baked goods.  It’s even more fun when we make themed items that go along with movies!  Gather up your ingredients and get ready to go Minion Crazy!

Ingredients

• 1 box of cake mix (we used Krispy Kreme Cake Mix)
• 2 Eggs
• 2/3 Cup of Water
• 1/3 Cup of Vegetable Oil
•  Yellow Wilton Candy Melts
•  Blue Wilton Candy Melts
•  Wilton Candy Eyes
• Black Icing Gel
• Wilton Donut Pan

How to Throw a Patriotic 4th of July Celebration

Do you love the 4th of July?  I definitely do!  We spend the day with our family celebrating!  We eat a lot, play fun games, swim, and we always finish the day off with a fun fireworks display shot off over the pond.  Does that sound like fun to you?  If so read on to learn how to throw a Patriotic 4th of July Celebration for your own family.

The main elements to our family celebration each year include the decorations, the food, the games, sometime of craft, a fun outfit, and the fireworks!  Read on to here some of of our favorite traditions and some of the new fun I plan to introduce this year.

Patriotic Decor

We spend the day on the pond at our families camp (if you aren’t from Maine you may be wondering what I mean by camp – in other parts of the US I think it would be called a lake house).  Our decor is very simple yet still patriotic.  My mom hangs patriotic buntings off the deck railing – how cute is this Personalized Bunting?  You will also find these fun patriotic buntings and patriotic buntings dotting the flower pots.

A few years ago I also made my mom this awesome Patriotic Handprint Wreath that she hangs up each year.  See the image below.

Patriotic Family Friendly Games

Each year we make a patriotic pinata – see the image below from quite a few years ago!  This is a family favorite and something I think the kids would protest if we stopped.

We buy a bunch of small items to stuff inside for the kids to get when it breaks – find some examples of what we have used in the past below:

Now that the kids are getting bigger we are starting to find more games for them to play.  This year I picked up two new games – Patriotic Bean Bag Toss and Patriotic Potato Sacks for Sack Races.  My kids tested them out and definitely can’t wait to play with them with their cousins.

The kids always have some type of matching outfit for the holiday as well.  The Patriotic T-Shirts below were one of our last projects.

Craft Project

This year we decided to add another element to the day – a craft.  We bought two different kits to let the kids choose or they can make both if they want.  We got a Bead Necklace Craft Kit and a Patriotic Turtle Ornament Craft Kit.

Food & Fireworks

Our family works together for all of the food that is served on the 4th.  We all have assigned items to bring to make sure we have plenty of food for both lunch and dinner and plenty of snacking in between!  Our fireworks display is very similar – all of the families contribute by purchasing their own items that are all pooled together to be shot off when it is finally dark!
